I sometimes see the JW on my college campus. They didn't have a table or cart, they just stood there with their magazine in hand. It seem like a complete waste of time. -

The Theory Of Everything
by 88JM inquestion: should able-bodied actors play characters with disabilities?.
i got myself into a bit of a quandary over a discussion on a facebook group.
it was partly based on this article in the guardian:.

He wasn't fully disabled at age 21; it was a rather slow progression compared to others.
A healthy man acting the part of a disable man; is called acting. Too many people whine about non-issues.

Are we heading for III World War?
by abiather inthe leaders of russia, germany, france and ukraine are slated to meet in minsk (the belarusian capital) tomorrow to discuss a ukrainian peace plan!
some countries such as hollande believe there is going to be a total war.
when they met last year in the same place, they had put forward a peace plan (a ceasefire, withdrawal of artillery, prisoner exchanges and other concessions) that were never fully implemented!

The book of Daniel I found to be an interesting read, and the prophesies in that book made sense to some degree. It has been argued the book was written after the events occurred.
The book of Revelation reminds me of the writings of Nostradamus. By creating symbols throughout a prophesy, any time an event occurs you can claim it was prophesied by substituting the events with the symbols.

Growing up I lived in the middle of Florida in the southern part. I had a friend whose father was an Elder, and would stay at their homes during the weekends. One of the "rules", as we all know JW love rules, was that who ever spent the night had to go out in field service on Saturday. At first I dreaded the idea of being forced into field service. My dad wasn't a witness and my mother wasn't uber, so I had little pressure at home. But it turned out not to be a big deal.
The Elder would do a return visit on Saturday to a gator farm, out in the middle of no where. It was an hour drive, and mostly entailed us watching gators be fed and harvested. So, one return visit was 2 hours in driving, and about 2 hours of BSing.

Field service was the worst. I enjoyed the assemblies, because my family rarely did anything together. It was nice to get a "vacation". It would of been so much better if I had an Ipad, but Steve Jobs was only pumping out the Apple IIs back then. -

Did you go to your prom or belong to a "worldly" club while you were a witness?
by minimus ini didn't go to the prom but i did belong to a chess club until the awake article said it was a war game and suggested true christians wouldn't play such a game.

I didn't go to my prom, nor developed any natural friendships with my peers. I wasn't allowed any extracurricular activities that was school related. I did join a small local chess club. An Elder taught me chess and I became a solid player. I was never a master of the game, but I eventually was able to beat this Elder. He then scolded me, and said I spent too much time on chess. -

I don't know if this was touch on before, but doesn't The Society increase its liability with their business plan? They want to have complete ownership of all Kingdom Halls, leave a minimal bank balance in local congregations, provide direct communication broadcast via broadband, and make all expansion decisions.
These decisions, along with their continual talks given by the Governing Body, provides evidence that The Society does not allow the congregation autonomous decision making even in local matters. A lawyer when seeking damages goes after the deepest pockets, and these broadcast, especially this one is damning evidence at the amount of control The Watchtower Inc., has over its Elders and members.

@cofty Faith is for lazy people. It is a substitute for thinking.
So I guess you've been lazy for most of your life. You criticize people that have faith, but don't forget you not only were an Elder, but after you were DF, you involved yourself in another Church. You've only been enlighten for a decade. Though I agree with everything I've read you posted, I am reminded about a conference that Neil Degrasse Tyson attended. He stated to Dawkins and the others on stage that he was concerned with basically their harshness to those with faith. He basically stated that to change people's opinion, viewpoint, or to even think about the issue may be impacted by the hostility these atheist have towards those of faith.
Though you are well read, and now are certain with your current belief; it wasn't that long ago you too had faith in a God. It is hard for people to accept that this life is it.

Devolution, not evolution
by abiather inscientists discovered an organism that has not evolved in more than 2 billion years (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/02/150203104131.htm) .
one can dismiss this as an exception*!
yet overwhelming proofs are too obvious to miss if we take the community as an individual (community is the reflection of the behavior pattern of the individuals that make up the whole).

That is the most muddle-headed post in the history of the internet.
Organisms only evolve if there are selection pressures. In a stable environment, with no competition there is no advantage in change.
The rest of your post is the usual negative, cultish whinging.
I concur. OP, you really need to read and study science. The Governing Body of Jehovah Witnesses don't want you to seek higher education, so that you remain ignorant.
An organism, if the environment is stable, will reproduce. Not hard to understand.

The GB can make a lot of tweaks and even more major over haul, and this would increase their members substantially. They have a business foundation that no other business has. They pay no taxes on profit, contributions, and land, or very little. They have a work force that they pay no salary nor benefits. They can terminate these workers at will with no consequences. Their same workforce is also their customers. Think about it, their customers make the products, and then buy the products they make. Their customers are completely loyal.
All they have to do is continue to tweak the blood doctrine until it is irrelevant, address past child abuse cases, and tweak disfellowshipping shunning. Once that is done their public image will increase.
The next stage, once they wired all the KH and the GB takes complete control of public talks, is to focus on the youth. Their only way to survive is having an engage youth that will create the next generations customers. I don't know if they have the vision or willingness to do anything meaningful in that category. If it is the same go to bethel or be a pioneer then I don't see much growth. The Caleb and Sophia videos are a start in the indoctrination process, but it won't last once the kiddies hit puberty. Be interesting to see if they will ever start a private school for witness children, or perhaps an online school. I think that would be the best avenue for them to control their next generation of customers. Having the children never attend public school and the only information they receive is from jw.org
